Thirty-nine-year-old Richard Konadu faces murder and weapons charges in the death of Regina Carroll, a 27-year-old mother of two who was shot multiple times in the head. Authorities say Konadu called 911 to report the shooting, then went to JFK Airport in New York City and took a plane overseas.
While on the lam, he lived in the United Kingdom and Ghana before being captured in November. The arrest ended a manhunt that had been coordinated by the FBI office in Newark.
Konadu will be held without bail in the county jail pending his arraignment on Thursday.
