In an attempt to draw people into the fold of the party, the 2008 flag-bearer of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, is reaching out to the youth through the world’s leading social networking website, Facebook.

According to him, there are more than 800,000 Ghanaians subscribers of Facebook, which in his opinion, offers him the greatest opportunity to impact in them the knowledge he has acquired over the years as a well-to-do business magnate.

“It offers me the greatest platform to enhance convenient communication and give message of hope to these youth on whom the future of the nation rest,” Dr. Nduom said.

Dr. Nduom made this observation on Wednesday in Accra when he interacted with hundreds of youth who had come from far and near of the country.

The meeting offered the youth the opportunity to share ideas with the respected politician and successful businessman on issues of national importance.

The 2008 CPP flag-bearer seized the opportunity to advise the youth to be “very sensitive” in choosing people who will lead them in their daily lives, adding that “it is necessary to cross-check the credibility of the individual.”

To him, Facebook offers the best platform for such background, which he labelled as “very vital” to be conducted rather than using it for “needless activities.”

“That is why I always advise the youth to be wary of people, especially politicians, who promise heaven, and instead reflect on how best they could work hard to improve upon their lives,” Dr. Nduom intimated.

Along that, he lamented over the rate at which contracts were being awarded to expatriates in the country and urged them to demand their fair share of the national cake.

“This country belongs to you and it is your opportunities that are slipping from your hands. You have the right to show your disapproval on certain things- an example- is how contracts are being awarded to expatriates whereas majority of you are unemployed,” Dr. Nduom noted.

He emphasised: “This land belongs to Ghanaians first before any other foreigner or expatriate and therefore you must be served before any other foreigner. Do not sit quietly and let this opportunity by pass you.”

Touching on some successes he chalked for Ghana during his days at the Public Sector Reforms Ministry, Dr. Nduom asserted that he mooted the idea of the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS), named it and pushed hard for its implementation.

On that score, he called on Ghanaians to genuinely come on board to make the CPP a viable party on the political landscape of the country.

“We have embarked on a journey and we are not turning back. It is all about you, the young men and women who I want to encourage to make good use of the opportunities that befall you.

… And these ideas could be accomplished if you remain very resolute. You must do it by not selling your conscience or your support to the highest bidder. You must volunteer, sacrifice something to gain your economic freedom in your own country.

Dr. Nduom also disclosed that similar fora will be held across the country to sensitise the youth on the CPP’s contributions towards the development of Ghana.

He further announced that more information about him can be found on www.facebook.com/pknduom
