…CPP Gets Busy

Reports reaching theghanaianjournal.com from the headquarters of the Convention People’s Party at Asylum Down, Accra, point to the fact that the party is leaving nothing to chance in the impending 2012 general election.

A highly placed source at the party’s headquarters told theghanaianjournal.com that almost all the national executives of the party are on the ground working diligently to build a vibrant CPP at the grassroots level.

“I can tell you that national executives of our party [the CPP] are seriously on the ground helping in the restructuring of the party. The ultimate is to see a formidable CPP that will convince a lot more Ghanaians to vote for it in 2012,” the source hinted.

According to the source, this is the only way the CPP can become a credible and formidable alternative political party to be able to convince more Ghanaian voters to vote massively for the party in 2012.

The source stressed that what the rank and file of the party is currently doing is part of a grand restructuring programme to breathe a new life into the CPP and make the party more attractive.

As part of the restructuring the party, the source disclosed that the party is in the process of recruiting more young and energetic people especially at the grassroots level to enable them work with a sense of urgency to bring more people into the fold of the party.

“The party has already recruited young people and is still in process of recruiting more youth whose primary responsibility is to ensure that they convince a lot more Ghanaians to become card-bearing members of the Great Convention People’s Party,” the source disclosed.

The source further noted that the CPP leadership has identified lack of funds as one major problem militating against the efforts of the party to grow to become a strong party capable of winning national elections.

“In fact CPP rank and file is aware that money is a major problem to the party, and I can assure you that the party is exploring several avenues to raise more money to resource and sustain the party,” the source indicated.

Again, the source indicated that leading CPP members have all agreed to put their differences aside and work in unison to build a formidable party that will be capable of wrestling political power from the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).
