Rawlings is no god; either he shuts up or… – Allotey
Posted by on May 11, 2011 at 3:09 pm in News From Other Newspapers, PoliticsThe Central Regional Communications Director of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Allotey Jacobs has advised former President Jerry John Rawlings to use the upcoming June 4th celebration to redeem his image because ‘time is catching up with him’.
Mr Jacobs posited that the myth surrounding the ex-president has been broken and thus he has lost the respect, commitment and loyalty of many party members.
Mr Rawlings at the launch of his wife’s campaign for the NDC flagbearership race accused the Mills government of corruption among others and promised to make other revelations during the June 4th Celebration next month.
Mr Rawlings, known for his controversial remarks about people has, since President Mills took office, continued this line of attack on him.
Contributing to discussions on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo Wednesday, Mr Allotey Jacobs stated that ex-president Rawlings should not delude himself into thinking that he is a god because there is only one person on this earth “who was elevated by God into godship and that is Moses…”
“Yes, it is because of NDC’s personification of Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings, therefore he might think that ‘I am a god’,” he said.
Allotey Jacobs therefore counseled Mr Rawlings to emulate the admirable example of ex-president John Agyekum Kufour in order to restore the respect he once enjoyed from the party.
“He either keeps quiet and retain the respect that he has in the party or he goes ahead and spew out certain things that will make people to throw missiles at him,” he concluded.
