Andrew and Joshua, affectionately known as “Keche De” and “Keche Pa,” are poised to start Summer 2011 with a bang. After several months spent performing music from their freshman album “Pressure” (Available on AfricanMP3s.com and iTunes) and working hard in the studio, the duo released their latest single, “Sorkode,” on Friday, June 24, 2011. Sorkode was played for the first time on air on YFM’s “Drive of your Life,” hosted by Nana Kwame Sarpong, one of the most dynamic voiceson Ghanaian radio.
Sorkode is a song about a good Ghanaian Lady who comes from a small town in Ghana’s Volta region and wants her loved one, who has never heard of this town called Sorkode, to know the village before they get married. The song was composed when Keche drove by Sorkode on the way to a show in Ho with Batman Samini – Sorkode’s message is that it is important to have pride in one’s home town.
Keche’s entry into the Ghanaian music scene was lengthy and full of challenges. Both artists can describe many moments when their faith was the only thing preventing them from leaving the music business completely. After spending years working in menial jobs in order to save money for hours of studio time, Andrew and Joshua signed with Spyder Lee Entertainment and have started to enjoy the success that they so diligently worked for – their first major single “Pressure” quickly became a chart topping hit in Liberia in late 2010 and has since been heard on air in Sierra Leone, Botswana, Zambia and South Africa. Critical acclaim for the “Pressure” album in Liberia prompted the duo to hold their first international concert in Monrovia in 18th and 19th of February 2011.
Keche is one of the latest in a long line of talented groups and solo artistes that hail from Tema – they have promised their local fans, who have been instrumental in their success to day, that their next album will take them further toward their goal of solidifying Tema’s growing reputation as a training ground for today’s stars and tomorrow’s superstars.
Keche will perform Sorkode and their hit song Pressure on stage at Ghana Meets Naija at the Dome on July 1st, where they will be using props and effects never seen on stage in Ghana – for more press information, interviews, photos, CDs, etc., contact Edwin Edinkrah at +233242589088.
