Kosmos Energy said that its Makore-1 exploration well on the West Cape Three Points Block, offshore Ghana, encountered 37m of good-quality Campanian-age water-bearing sandstone reservoirs and 46m of good-quality Turonian-age water-bearing sandstone reservoirs.
The well was drilled by the Atwood Hunter semi-submersible rig in a water depth of 1,409m to a total depth of 3,876m.
Makore-1, which was the company’s first well in the southeastern portion of the block, explored a stratigraphic trap in a Turonian-age fan system.
Kosmos holds a 30.875% interest in the West Cape Three Points Block and is the operator.
Kosmos is an international oil exploration and production firm focused on West Africa
