Staff of Coconut Grove Regency Hotel and First National last week Friday donated blood the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.
The blood donation exercise which came off at Coconut Grove Regency saw over forty workers of the two companies voluntarily donating blood to save lives.
Addressing the press after the exercise, the Human Resource Manager, Coconut Grove Regency, Roberta Torkornu, said her outfit has been doing this yearly to help save “Ghanaians who desperately need blood at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.”
“We started this blood donation exercise a couple of years ago. And now we have taken it upon ourselves to be donating blood every year and soon we will be doing it twice every year,” she disclosed.
According to Ms. Torkornu, the idea of workers of the hotel donating blood was mooted by the Board Chairman of Coconut Grove Hotels, Mrs. Yvonne Nduom, adding that “since then management of the hotel has been encouraging workers of the hotel to willingly donate blood to help save lives.”
Doctors and nurses from the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital who supervised the exercise commended managements of Coconut Grove Regency and 1st National for encouraging its workers to donate blood to save lives.
