CPP ASSIN SOUTH COMMISSIONS NEW PARTY OFFICE
Posted by on September 30, 2011 at 1:57 pm in Other Top Stories, PoliticsThe Assin South constituency of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) opened an office on Tuesday 27, 2011 at a special ceremony at Nyankumasi Ahenkro. This has been done to forcefully announce the re-emergence of the CPP as a political power to content with during elections from 2012 going. The Assin South constituency used to be for the CPP. But in the 4th Republic, the NPP has dominated in the area with Prof. Dominic Fobi as the Member of Parliament.
It is against this background that the office was opened to make the CPP visible and to also serve as an administrative point for party people and all those who may want to register to become members of the party.
Before the commissioning ceremony, Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom, the 2008 flagbearer of the CPP and other leading members of the party paid a courtesy call on the Omanhene of Nyankumasi Ahenkro, Nana Tsibu Asare at a grand durbar at the Chief’s palace. This was preceded with a brass band procession throughout the principal streets of Nyankumasi Ahenkro.
The Central Regional Chairman, Mr. Kwame Adu Ansah presented two bottles of schnapps and an undisclosed amount to the Chief and his elders on behalf of the CPP. In his opening speech, Dr Nduom disclosed that the CPP has started an early campaign so that people will not resort to using a late start of its campaign as a reason not to vote for the Party. He announced that a vibrant, competent Parliamentary Candidate who is well-known in the constituency and has strong roots there will be introduced soon to wrestle the seat from the NPP.
Dr Nduom tasked the constituency executives to recruit more people into the party and organize them to win more parliamentary and presidential votes for the CPP. The Constituency executives were introduced to the gathering.
The Chief of Nyankumasi Ahenkro, Nana Tsibu Asare paid glowing tribute to his father who was the leader of the Young Pioneer Movement in the Assin South Constituency as well as Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah who industrialized the country and created opportunities for all Ghanaians irrespective of their tribe, religion or colour. Nana Tsibu Asare disclosed that he was the first chief to have been sent to Israel by the CPP government to further his studies. The Chief asked Dr Nduom to open a branch of his companies at Nyankumasi Ahenkro so that his people may get jobs to do.
At the commissioning ceremony, the Constituency Chairman, Kojo Gyesi Nimako asked the people to vote for the CPP for economic transformation and never go back to the NDC and NPP who have disappointed Ghanaians since 1992. The incoming National Women Organizer, Mrs. Mary Ankomah Boakye Boateng tasked the executives to ensure that the people pay regular dues to generate money for the constituency.
Present at the ceremony were the Constituency executives, 2nd Regional Vice Chairman, Isaac Johnson, Regional Youth Organizer, Kojo Eduamoah, Outgoing National Organizer, Evelyn Lamisi Anabila, as well as other leading members of the Convention People’s Party.
