As preparation for the maiden edition of Ernst & Young’s ‘Entrepreneur of the Year Award’ in West Africa region enters the final stage, 13 finalists from Nigeria and Ghana have been announced, following thorough screening processes.

The award programme, launched in Lagos May this year, is being introduced in West African countries (Nigeria and Ghana) for the first time. The programme has enjoyed international recognition for over 25 years.

The award is about honouring and celebrating entrepreneurs who have combined ingenuity, hard work and perseverance to creating sustained and growing businesses.

Giving overview of the award, Henry Egbiki, Ernst & Young country leader and regional managing partner for West Africa, said: “We are looking for West African entrepreneurs to become part of the prestigious awards’ programme. We would love to hear about the story of entrepreneurs and how their innovative ideas are changing their respective business landscape.”

Founded in the mid-western town of the USA in 1986, the annual programme has not only grown to become the only worldwide award event of its kind, but currently held in 140 cities across 50 countries around the world.

Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year celebrates those who are building and leading successful, growing and dynamic businesses, recognising them through regional, national and global awards’ programmes.
