Ghanaian selected as Inaugural Ibrahim Leadership Fellow

The Mo Ibrahim Foundation, in partnership with three of the world’s most influential multilateral organisations, has announced the selection of the first Ibrahim Leadership Fellows. The Fellows are Omolade Dada (Nigeria), Yvonne Mensah (Ghana) and Jacqueline Musiitwa (Zambia).

The Fellows will spend one year in the executive offices of the UN Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the World Trade Organization (WTO) respectively.Omolade Dade is a development finance professional, with strong experience in the areas of regional integration and infrastructure development. She is currently a Senior Investment Officer at the African Development Bank in Tunis.

Yvonne Mensah is a lawyer, with over seven years of experience in international policy development in Africa in the areas of trade, environment, and politics. She currently works as a Political Affairs Officer for Africa at the Commonwealth Secretariat in London.

Jacqueline Musiitwa is also a lawyer. Her leadership in business, government, academia and civil society has been recognised by many. She currently advises the Rwandan Ministry of Justice as well as teaching international law at the National University of Rwanda. She is a Founding Partner of Hoja Law Group.

Commenting on the selection, Mo Ibrahim said “I would like to extend my warm congratulations to our three new Leadership Fellows, who were chosen from a huge pool of exceptionally talented individuals. Africa’s new generation of rising stars are clamouring for opportunities that support them to contribute their talents and abilities to a more prosperous and stable continent – and we look forward to seeing the inaugural Fellows fulfill this mission.”
