STORY: FROM JAMES APPIAKORAN JR., KUMASI, A/R
A group calling itself ‘Bagbin for 2012,’ has made a passionate appeal to delegates of NDC in the Nadowli-West constituency to vote massively to retain Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin as Member of Parliament for the area.
The group, which is made up of student groups drawn from the various Tertiary Education Institutions Networks (TEIN) of the NDC from institutions in the Ashanti Region, say their appeal is borne out of the fact that the MP has continually spearheaded several development projects in the constituency.
They again argued that the current MP needed to continue his work in the constituency because he has represented his people well in Parliament.
Spokesperson of the group, Godwin Bobobee, at a press conference in Kumasi said their primary objective is to ensure that Hon. Bagbin who is one of Ghana’s longest serving and dedicated legislative representative is given the mandate once more to help fast-track the socio-economic development of the area and the country as a whole.
The spokesperson said the MP’s tenure as the area’s representative has brought so much economic and social relief to citizens and therefore need to be allowed to continue to impact the citizens positively.
He added that the MP is the best they can have with his “tremendous wealth of knowledge and ideas for the betterment of the constituency.”
Godwin Bobobee indicated the group’s resolve to religiously spearhead the campaign of trumpeting the good attributes and qualities endowed in the MP.
The spokesperson said the group has lined up a string of outreach programs both within and outside the constituency to propagate the good development-oriented programs and policies that
According to Mr. Bobobee, the Mr. Bagbin has aided their society, a predominantly farming community, to expand their businesses and farms coupled with many scholarship schemes he has advanced to 200 brilliant but needy students in the constituency.
This, he added, has propelled many students to aspire to having university education.
He stated categorically that “the good deeds and political maturity of Alban Bagbin is virtually known by all within the country including the current opposition New Patriotic Party who fret at the mere mention of his name.”
