‘Monkey dey work, baboon dey chop’
Posted by on December 16, 2011 at 9:21 am in Top Story“Monkey dey, work, baboon dey chop” is one way of suggesting the way and manner people take credit for work done by others.
And that catch-phrase aptly sums up the way executives of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) are taking credit for work they have not done during the inauguration of the party office in the Trobu-Amasaman Constituency in the Greater Accra Region.

At the opening of the constituency office, CPP National Chairperson, Ms. Samia Yaba Nkrumah, told CPP members and supporters that it is party members and supporters such as they that built the office through their sweat and toil, when the fact on the ground suggests otherwise.
That assertion was contained in a press statement released and signed by the new Communication Director of CPP, Nii Armah Akomfrah, after the inaugural ceremony.
However the fact is that the Trobu-Amasaman office building was funded solely by Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, the very person who the current leadership of the CPP is persecuting and hounding out of the CPP.
Shockingly, Miss Samia Nkrumah, with the support of the General Secretary, Ivor Kobina Greenstreet, and others of the party’s leadership, did not find it decorous enough to commend Dr. Nduom for supporting the project, but instead posited as if the office was acquired and readied for business through the collective efforts of party members and supporters in the constituency.
What was more striking about the ceremony was the fact that the banner displayed at the inauguration ground had the picture of the party Chairperson, Samia Nkrumah, embossed on it, thus arousing the suspicion and curiosity of many of the party’s members and supporters at the ceremony.
Some party members who this paper talked to, questioned the rationale behind Miss Samia Nkrumah’s gesture and wondered whether it was a way of announcing that she is nursing an ambition to run for the presidential nomination of the CPP, which nominations would be opened on January 4, next year.
“We thought it is only those who are seeking official position in the CPP that often display their banners at events like what we are doing here. If Samia is thinking along those lines, she should tell us and stop the subtle moves,” a member of the Trobu-Amasaman CPP affirmed.
In a letter however, the leadership of the Trobu-Amasaman CPP commended Dr. Nduom for funding the office. This is what the CPP leadership of the constituency said in a letter of appreciation to Dr. Nduom:
“…The leadership and Constituency Executives of CPP in Trobu-Amasaman Constituency wish to thank you in advance, for donating One Thousand Six Hundred cedis (GH¢1,600.00)for the construction of our party office. Moreover, I want to assure you that with God holding your banner, you are going to win the party’s flag-bearership… We wish you the best of luck. God Richly Bless You.”
The letter was signed by Mr. Amos Abutu, chairman; Ramsey Abaxe, 1st vice chairman; Peter Yalley, 2nd vice chairman; George Garbrah, secretary; Thomas Broni, deputy secretary; Sarah Tacchie, women organizer; Mr. Rashid Braimah, youth organizer, and; William Asante, Treasurer.

So why didn’t they(the Amasaman leadership) ask the CPP leadership to right the wrong? Is this turning into a dictatorship already? Are the people following this deception that dumb? We have to be careful, people.
on December 16th, 2011 at 12:28 pmWhat is the meaning of this headline mr keelson? This paper should be preaching unity in cpp because a united cpp will do a great deal to help Dr.nduom to win the presidency.Nobody should entertain the idea of Dr nduom going independent because Ghanaians will not give him the chance,so please use this platform to seek unity in cpp.
I love Dr.nduom particularly the way he speaks, his activeness and everything but will be very disappointed to see him go independent or form his own party instead of seeking cpp unity because his political career will be over the day he takes these path.we don`t need thses headline from the only paper that support cpp because everybody know all the support Dr.nduom is giving to various constituences.
Please let us preach unity in cpp because a united cpp will see nduom win to safe the country from npp/ndc.
