In a subtle attempt to battle and maintain the Adentan Constituency seat in Parliament, Kojo Adu-Asare, the incumbent MP has rescinded his decision not to contest the seat for a second term.
He has instructed his personal assistant to pick up nominations forms to contest the NDC primaries in January next year.
The development may come as a surprise to many after the MP had just a fortnight ago, announced publicly that he was not going to seek re-election.
He had early on presented a letter to the constituency chairman of the party in which he notified the party of his decision not to run any more.
Mr Adu-Asare told Joy News early on this month that he had accomplished his mission to rescue the Adentan seat from the New Patriotic Party and had succeeded in doing that.
An aide to the MP and Adentan NDC branch executive, Kojo Owusu, confirmed to host of Joy FM’s Super Morning Show, Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah that he was instructed by Mr Adu-Asare to pick the nominations forms.
Kojo Adu-Asare is in Turkey and is expected back home Thursday to fill the forms and submit them on Friday.
“There were numerous calls from different levels of the party, the constituency, regional and national. I think he listened to them and he has changed his mind,” Mr Owusu explained the rationale behind the U-turn.
He said persons who claimed Mr Adu-Asare decided to bow out because he knew he was a failure and was not going to win were just “guessing”.
