Builds GH¢200,000 library for KEEA
Posted by on January 9, 2012 at 1:05 pm in Books, Local NewsEarlier on Friday, Dr. Nduom inaugurated a GH¢200,000 modern library complex christened “Nduom Community Library” at Elmina in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) Municipality of the Central Region. The two-storey modern library complex, stocked with different kinds of books, aims to promote learning among school children in the area from the basic school level to the senior high school level.
Inaugurating the edifice, Dr. Nduom, who was the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area from 2000 to 2008, stated that the library was his contribution to help promote reading amongst students in the area and uplift the falling standard of education in the municipality.
He noted that the performance of children during the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the area was nothing to write home about, adding that the library is to encourage children to use their time ‘fruitfully’ by visiting during their leisure time instead of roaming about unnecessarily.
Dr. Nduom described the library as unique, saying it will be turned into a historic edifice as historic artifacts about Elmina will be hanged to tell the history of the ancient city.
He explained that the library comprises a computer room which has been fully furnished with modern computers for Information Communication Technology (ICT) training.
The PPP leader disclosed that a spacious area which can accommodate about 100 students at a time has also been provided as a normal library for reading.
He intimated that a large area has also been created for a Samsung flat screen television to be mounted, adding that this would enable teachers organise their students to visit the library periodically to watch educational programmes and nurture particularly those at the basic
level.
Dr. Nduom disclosed that a solar panel project will also be introduced to serve as an alternative source of energy to the library in case of power outage.
He therefore charged children in the area to take advantage of the facility and make good use of it to improve their academic ability.
The kids, led by some teachers and parents in the area who witnessed the inauguration thanked Dr. Nduom for thinking about their welfare and prayed for God’s guidance and blessing for him and his family

Good Work done to Dr Nduom and he should continue to do such things no matter the level of intimidation upon him
