Member of Parliament (MP) for Adenta, Kojo Adu Asare, has said that attempts by the NPP to tarnish the President’s image on the basis of the Woyome scandal will not yield any results because Ghanaians will not vote based on the saga.

He said the populace will examine their personal lives as to how that has improved under the leadership of President John Evans Atta Mills and cast their votes accordingly.

The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has, since reports emerged on the controversial payment of GH¢58 million judgment debt, cashed in on the matter and consistently tried to link it to the President.

However, speaking on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo Monday, Mr. Adu Asare bemoaned the penchant of the NPP to smear the President’s integrity with the scandal, asserting that Ghanaians will elect a leader in the upcoming elections based on issues such as improved healthcare, roads, schools, water and the likes.

Incensed at comments by a NPP panelist during the news analysis programme, the Adenta MP explained that President Mills’ character has been formed over the years and that any attempt to destroy his reputation to score cheap political points will fail.

“It wouldn’t take one Woyome case to tarnish or taint that image… for me all attempts to destroy the image of President Mills can only wash in the ocean,” the MP maintained.

“It will not affect him today; it will not affect him tomorrow … because the Woyome scandal is not what Ghanaians are going to look upon to vote in 2012…”

He added that neither government nor anybody has the capacity to sweep the Woyome saga under the carpet as the opposition would want Ghanaians believe, stressing that “We all want to see a logical conclusion.”

“Let’s deal with the issues and leave personalities out…”—Myjoyonline.com
