The President of Ghana, Prof John Evans Atta Mills, will deliver the ‘State of the Nation’ address to Parliament tomorrow Thursday, February 16, 2012.

This, according to the Majority Chief Whip and Member for Nkwanta South in the Volta Region, Mr. Gershon Gbediame, is a first quarter requirement postulated by the constitutional of Ghana.

The MP made this known when he was reading the business statement for the fourth week which ends Friday 17, February 2012 on the floor of Parliament last week.

He appealed to his colleague members to ensure that they made themselves available for the president’s annual message.

The Chief Whip also noted that extended sittings will commence from Monday February 27, 2012.

The process, he added, would enable the house to dispose of business before it rises on the provisional date of Wednesday, March 21, 2012.

He urged Committees with referrals to expedite work on their reports and submit their reports for consideration by the House.

He said Bills may be presented to the House for first reading and those urgent in nature may be taken through the various stages in one day in accordance with Order 119. Papers and Committee reports may also be presented to the House.

Mr. Gbediame said motions may be debated and their consequential resolutions, if any, taken during the week.
