*To manage liquid waste
The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has assured authorities of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital of its preparedness to help the state hospital manage its liquid waste.
The Chief Executive Officer of AMA, Dr. Alfred Oko Vanderpuijie, gave this assurance when he visited Korle Bu last Monday.
“It is against this backdrop that we have proposed that such liquid wastes generated from Korle Bu will be deposited at Lavender Hill.”
According to him, the liquid waste will be treated before finally deposited into the sea.
“…This is to ensure that the state hospital operates in a clean environment,” said the CEO of AMA
Additionally, Dr. Vanderpuijie disclosed the AMA has built a liquid waste plant at East Legon which will serve the campus of Institute of Professional Studies (IPS) and other universities within that area.
Expressing his excitement, the CEO of Korle Bu, Professor Otu Nartey, who received the AMA and his team, thanked them for their preparedness to assist his outfit.
He disclosed that the hospital has serious problems when it comes to the management of liquid wastes.
“…Indeed many of our liquid waste pipes are old and on top of that our treatment plants are not functioning properly,” Prof. Otu Nartey disclosed.
