After almost 41 years, the Convention People’s Party has come alive again. And for those who once lived through the CPP from the late 50’s to the 60’s, until it was proscribed after the 1966 coup, the setting for the party’s 3rd National Delegates Congress evokes those sweet all conquering memories of the CPP.

Nduom Clears First Hurdle

The frontrunner in the Convention People’s Party’s presidential nomination, Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom yesterday cleared a major hurdle in his quest to lead the party into the 2008 presidential election.

At an extra-ordinary national executive council meeting of the party held close to midnight yesterday, December 15, 2007,39 out of the total number of 45 member council voted against moves by a section of the party’s leadership to have the candidature of Dr. Nduom nullified.

Nduom coasting to a landslide victory

History of political primaries suggests that the presence of visible numbers prior to such occasions might not necessarily be a sure bet for victory. But where people who matter-delegates- in such primaries, show open support for a particular candidate, then the long standing misconception about numbers in such instance stands a great threat.

Low media coverage for CPP Congress

The much anticipated resurgence of the People’s Convention Party will need a lot more injection of media works, capital and perhaps ways and means of wooing people, the Ghanaian Journal has observed.
